I've played guitar ever since I was a kid. Probably since I was 8 or 9 years old. I learned a lot of new songs over the years, slowly getting better. But I never disciplined myself or set up any kind of schedule to practice. I really just use it as a way to escape for a little bit, particularly working from home.

Weekly Routine

I know a lot of my favorite songs. I'm actually quite decent at playing them. When I perform for family, which is usually a high-octane crowd of Tennessee-whiskey-drinkin'-folk, I always get requests to play some banger from 1960 that I've never even heard of. It kind of ruins it.

So I'm going to start a weekly routine. We'll see how long it lasts, but I'm going to try to learn a new song once a week and finally stop playing the same ones over and over again.
